About the Art

Welcome to a world where imagination meets technology. Many of these works began as AI generations - BUT - none of them are random creations. Every piece included here is the result of careful, directed, intentional crafting and editing to achieve the desired result.

What makes an artist an artist? Is it the brushes and paints? Yes and no. The tools alone don’t make someone an artist. They only enable a vision to be realized. Is a sculptor an artist? Absolutely, but they don’t use brushes or paint. Ultimately, an artist is someone who is, at their core, a creative person. Ideas have to come first before any tools are used. The same is equally true for visual arts, music, literature, and all other types of creative expression. Tools change and artists adapt. Many people are rightfully cautious about artificial intelligence. But AI has been in use for years, in movies we watch, in games we play, in music we listen to, even in stories we read. It can be good or bad. How we use it directs its path.

I choose beauty. This tool has allowed me to create beautiful things when I don’t have the space or resources to gather the physical tools I’d need to achieve the same results. These are the pictures I’d paint. I hope you like them.

- Jeff Smallman

I’m a trained classical composer who’s adding digital artistry to my creative output. I strive for beauty in all of my work, beauty that can be found in even the most ordinary things and places. Nature and nostalgia in equal parts, I hope you’ll spend some time browsing my work and enjoying what you see here.
